"I've been thinking." Aten said. "And I don't think this was the ship he was directing us to at all."

"Nil hea?" Rin asked.

"Nil hea." Aten said. "Why would he point us at this hollow twig pixie's dragon when there's that one?" He gestured to the other, and twas true, it was a somewhat larger and much grander drake than the one that was bobbing and shuddering just from their leaning against it.

"I haven't the slightest idea, nil hea." Rin shrugged.

"But he's probably got his reasons, tá?" Tiun added.

"You say this." Aten said, "but we'll be sailing and then we'll be sinking and he'll mutter 'Should've picked a bigger boat.' and then he'll want to hit me, and yell 'you were down here all this time and you couldn't let me know there was a problem?' like that, tá?"

"Ye make him sound a bit of an asshole, t'be honest." Rin commented.

"Nil hea! Ever's touchy, tá, but I wouldn't go that far. It's not his fault, that's what happens when all a man's will is put into force instead of thinking and using words like we do." Aten said. (Aw, look, he's defending him, too. Are ye sure we can't keep him?) There was a moment's pause. "I really do think he meant that other boat."

"But what if we are meant to be borrowing this one?"

"If it is the wrong one, we apologize for the misunderstanding, is tá se maith. In the meantime, we all get to ride on the nice boat, tá?"

"Looks like ye've got it all figured out." Tiun grinned. Rin merely stretched, pushed away from the smaller vessel and stepped across the platform to the more finely appointed one.

All three were on board, when there was a whoop and Rose came bounding down a plank in a dead run, then leapt the last span and landed in a crouch on the airship's flank. The smile faded immediately and they watched as she plunged directly into confusion, then went directly on to annoyed and flailing. "Why are you over here?" She demanded. "Get over there and wake that boat up! We gotta go!"

"Are you certain he did not mean this one?" Aten asked, all innocence.

"We decided that we like this one better." Rin interrupted, reclining against the strakes at the drake's belly with his arms folded behind his head.

"But I have the words to release that one!" She pointed at the smaller drake.

"Se maith, se maith--wait, wait, please?" Aten said, making apologetic gestures, trying to soothe. "Rose! How many ships does this man have?"

"....A lot? He has new ones and old ones." She made a random wide gesture. "Some here, some over there, and some over there, all over. Some big dragon ships over there, too." It was interesting watching her trying to redirect their attention, either by mind or by hand-gesture; it was completely unclear, as if she didn't have any ability to focus herself, never mind to direct the attention of someone else.

"I doubt he uses different words on every one. Try the words on this one."

"Maith--whatever--we have to go now! Wake it up!"

"Where's Ever?" Tiun asked.

"He is on his way. I've lifted her talon--" she held up a large metal hook at the end of a tether-- "We need to get this paidsleiker thing flying!"

"Maith, maith! I'm trying!" Aten was busy at the drake's nape, tracing sigils with his fingers. The air began to hum; the airship to shudder and rise, bumping and straining against an invisible net. "Release it now, Rose."

Rose was at the drake's tail, looking around. "I can't find them, Aten! There's sigils here, but they're different--mine aren't the right ones!"

"They're the right ones--just probably not in the same place on every ship."

"Where else would they be?" She snapped back.

"I don't know! Just keep looking!" Then he turned to the twins. "What do you know about these things?"

"Next to nothing--"
"--that is why we also"
"included a crew with our--"
"--request for a ship, tá?"

Oh, dear. I like the description of Rose trying to direct their attention, though.

they do tend to make a lot of their own trouble, yeah. *beam* thanks. slight door ability makes for complete inability to focus on any one thing very well...
